Starting third grade
Well, a lot (and I mean A LOT) has changed since that last post. How could it not? Five years is like an eternity. So what happened? Well, let us go back a bit so you understand how we got where we are (literally and figuratively).
First of all, some of you might remember that I am A.'s step father, not his "real" father. I met Sandra (A.'s mother) in 2000. She was in the process of a break up with her ex. and was moving out of her apartment with him and into the family home (with her father and sister).
For a child such as A., change is not welcomed. At all. As you can see, things were seriously starting to change. He was coping with these changes pretty well, considering their importance.
After spending a year with her father and sister, Sandra and I decided to move in together. This occurred in June 2001 when she and A. came to live in my condo. The condo was quickly put up for sale since there wasn't much space. And to my great surprise, it sold pretty quickly (this was months before Montreal's real-estate boom). So two months after having moved, we moved into a house in the same city.
A. was still coping well, making some new friends, looking forward to a new school where people might be nicer. Quickly enough, the first day of school came and A. found out that he had a nice teacher (a lady probably in her fifties) who was patient and encouraging him as he progressed. We were all very pleased.
Of course, A. being A., things didn't stay exactly this way. After a few months, we got a call from the principal asking if we could meet her. Oh well... Come back tomorrow to learn about this new series of meetings.
